3F Mohd Aliff (19)

What do you see in the picture above? They are not toys. They are scrumptious, cute, little, mouth drooling, finger licking, chocolate cupcakes. Therefore, you can infer that our Service Learning Project was to sell those cupcakes. However, most of you will think that the money from the selling of those cupcakes will eventually go to our class fund, am I right? Please do not be disheartened and do not get stressed out as you are actually wrong. As a member of class 3F, each individual of the class is trained to be a true blue Victorian. Values of a sportsman, gentleman and a professional are instilled into every single one of us ever since we stepped into the class. So it is only natural for us to donate all the amount from the selling of cupcakes to an organisation. All the proceeds have gone to some organisation involving women and children if I am not mistaken. At first, I thought that this Service Learning Project is a waste of time and I could not be bothered to help out in the project. I only started to be involved in the project when I became famous for my neat handwriting. I don't understand why others can't write neatly as writing is actually the most basic skill you need to have and you have been practicing it since you were a freaking four or five-year-old. Anyway, for the first time in my entire life, my neat handwriting attributes has put me to a disadvantage. I was given the important job of decorating or writing on the cards that was attached to cupcake cases.

On the day when we baked the cupcakes, I was one of the more prominent figures in our 'cupcake-making industry' and I had to lead others who were in the packing section. I could not escape from my duties and slack as there were teachers around, guiding us in the home-ec room. The place where the project was carried out. With that, I just had to take things seriously and do my part to help in the project. After the first hour of packing passed, I felt more comfortable and find the project more meaningful. As I busily did my work, I began to think of why the project was carried out and how does it help. Does it only help one party or does both parties involved benefit from this? What do I actually gain from this project? I realised that if I don't make full use of the project and just hope for it to pass, I will never benefit from it. Since I was already involved in the project, might as well I just make everything out of it and gain everything from it. This project also allowed me to bond with my other classmates as while we did our work, we talked, communicated and shared stories and experiences. When things turn out negative, each of our class members will encourage each other and motivate one another. This improved the relationship between us as a class.

During the whole project, I didn't experience anything that is really negative and frustrating. However, perhaps the group of people who baked the cupcakes did face some problems. The best experience during the project was when all of us finally finished baking sufficient cupcakes. It was a very satisfying moment. After all the hard work, we finally finished our tough, demanding and almost impossible challenge. We baked around 450 cupcakes or more in an amazing time of approximately 8 hours. What a RECORD! This shows that with teamwork, hardwork and determination, anything can happen. Even the things which seem to be impossible can be done if we work as a team. This is because a real team is made up of individuals who are committed to achieving common goals. The focus and support a team brings can really boost and motivate the team to reach greater heights.

In the future, I will try my best to be involved in the community and help others if I have free time. It is always good to be doing things that is beneficial. Furthermore, by staying involved in the community, you will get to experience new things and learn more about people around you. You will be more open and not self-centered. It helps improve your life. It also adds some spice into your life.
