Basically, what my class did for service learning was to donate money, to the charity, earned by selling muffins. The service learning was a very meaningful experience to me as it was my first time trying to do my part for the charity with my very own hands. Throughout the entire service learning, i have learned much that has change the way i think and act. Firstly, the service learning has changed my perspective of some of my classmates. I used to think negatively about them but after the service learning, i have come to realise that i have misjudged them. Thus, i will change my opinions of them and strive to become a better classmate and friend towards them and treat them like how i treat my good friends. The service learning experience has also help to correct my impatient personality. Normally, after 4 to 5 hours of non-stop work, i would already have started to feel impatient and frustrated. However, i realised that my classmates continued to work hard even though they felt as tired as me. These made me change my thinking as i didn't want to be a burden to them by slacking. The service learning also helped me realised that i could actually do a part for the community in many different ways. The best thing that happened throughout the service learning was the sense of success i felt when me and my classmates successfully baked our first tray of muffin. The feeling was indescribable. It just felt like i had scored 6 points for my L1R5 and it made me want to work harder to experience that same feeling again. It was really a once in a lifetime experience and if time could turned back, i would not hesitate to participate again! From this part of the service learning, i learned that everything is possible, and we just have to believe and work hard to achieve it. The worst thing i experience was the fact that we had to 'work' continuously for around 7 hours. It was so tiring that i could almost fall asleep standing. The worse part was the fact that there were only about 13 people to help pack around 100 packages in the last few hours of the service learning. However, i learned the importance of teamwork throughout this part of the service learning as the 13 people left pitched in all their energy to help finish the remaining packagings in time. Without them, i think i would have took about 20 times the amount of time to finish packaging everything. In the future, i might continue to stay involved in the community. However, that would be during my adulthood as i think that i should be studying hard for my future during my junior college to university years. This way, i can contribute even more to the community when i become successful in life in the future. i want to continue staying in the community because i feel that the community is for everyone to share and since we are a part of it, we should all do our part for it.
